Matt Carlin CEO

As the CEO of Carlin Financial Group, Matt Carlin is focused on helping clients work toward their retirement dreams through a well-thought-out strategy for retirement income.

Matt got his start in financial services over 30 years ago while working at a corporate insurance company selling a health indemnity program door-to-door. He soon realized he wanted to do more to help meet his clients’ needs, so he became an independent financial professional. Since then, Matt has been serving clients and their families by focusing on indexed annuities, life insurance, long-term care and income planning.

Matt’s business philosophy is simple: Always put the client first. He believes in forming long-lasting relationships with his clients that are built on love and trust so that his clients know he is always there for them.

“If I do what’s right for my clients and their family, I count that as a win, no matter which investments we ultimately decide to use,” Matt said. “I love my job, because I love working with the clients I choose to do business with and who chose to do business with me. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

A graduate of Lamar University with a master’s degree in speech, Matt has passed the Series 6, 7, 63 and 65 securities exams and is insurance licensed in Texas, Alabama and South Carolina.

In his free time, Matt is a local actor and a published playwright. He and his wife, Laney, live in League City, Texas. They have five children, five grandchildren (so far!) and three well-loved dogs.

Jared Carlin Financial Advisor

Jared is committed to helping clients build a sound financial future by working towards creating a steady stream of income during retirement.

Jared got his start in the industry in 2007 working for a large corporate financial planning firm. Later that year, he decided to shift his focus to client relationships and create tailor-made solutions, which meant he needed to go independent. It was then that he first joined Carlin Financial Group. Jared is consistently inspired by the thought of helping individuals and families find confidence and comfort in their financial futures.

Jared holds a general lines insurance license in Texas and a Series 65 registration. He studied business and finance at Texas A&M University before moving on to earn his bachelor’s degree in music from Oklahoma City University.

In his free time, Jared enjoys spending time with his wife Lindsay and their dog Kaia, scuba diving — he’s a master scuba diver and divemaster — as well as singing and acting. In fact, Jared has performed professionally in the past and continues to appear on the stage today! He also loves traveling and experiencing different cultures.

Kim Griffith  Operations and Service Leader

After a career in the movie and advertising industries, Kim got her start at Carlin Financial Group in 2006 as a project manager, securities processor, and occasional graphic designer. After several years of excelling at wearing multiple hats, she was promoted to operations and service lead, where she uses her strong organizational and people skills to ensure her clients and co-workers have what they need both in the office and at seminars.

Kim has a Bachelor of Arts from Baylor University in Radio, TV & Film. She enjoys theatre (both onstage and backstage) and spending time with her family & friends.

Melanie Clinkscales Marketing and New Business Lead

Melanie is a team-focused professional always on the lookout for new ways to improve the business and client experience. She joined Carlin Financial Group part-time in 2015, merely to help transition office files to a paperless, cloud-based system, and soon knew she wanted to be a part of the team long-term. Having known most of the staff for years already, she was excited at the opportunity. She started answering phones, scheduling appointments, greeting clients, planning events, and processing all new business forms.

Through hard work and relentless commitment to improvement, Melanie was promoted to Marketing and New Business Lead. Here, she works tirelessly to perfect Carlin Financial’s communication. She loves helping clients understand the benefits of choosing CFG, and getting to work with her longtime friends in the office!

Melanie spent three years studying interior design at the Art Institute of Houston, followed by attending Oklahoma City University studying musical theater.

In her free time, Melanie owns and runs a home-based bakery, Hazel’s Dessert Shoppe, named after her grandmother. She also loves to perform in local theater productions and spend time with her husband, John, and son, Asher. Together, they like to spend time outside, cook, travel and spend time with friends.
